Dr. Jay Stanley is the hierarchy to the Stanley Family Chiropractic Clinic. Dr. Jay attended the University of Montana, and went on to graduate with a Doctorate in Chiropractic from Northwestern Chiropractic School in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Jay originally practiced in Las Vegas, NV where he met his wife, before moving back to Montana where he was born and raised. A cool fact about Dr Jay is he is one of the first individuals to practice acupuncture in the United States! Dr. Jay Stanley was (has since retired) the certified acupuncturist and had been treating patients with acupuncture and chiropractic since 1974. Dr. Jay became one of the first acupuncturists in the United States after President Nixon's visit to China. James Reston was a NY Times journalist who accompanied the President to China, and at the time ended up needing an emergency appendectomy and was treated with acupuncture for the pain. Impressed by this treatment, Mr. Reston decided to document his amazing experience and success with acupuncture in a NY Times article. Intrigued by the possibilities of this treatment, US Senator Paul Laxalt of Nevada decided to bring some acupuncturists from China to teach American doctors acupuncture at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). At the time, Dr. Stanley was practicing chiropractic in Las Vegas, saw the advertisement, and attended these classes! Nevada became the first state to license acupuncture. With over 50 years of chiropractic and acupuncture experience, you can rest assured that Dr. Jay is still around at the office to help manage the clinic and help out with the day to day operations.
